The Tradition:   Altars are created on Dia de los Muertos to honor loved ones lost. These altars contain various items to represent the 4 elements (earth, fire, wind, water), as well as items for the returning loved one, such as alcohol and food. By providing a photo for the altar, passage is created for your loved one to visit for a night of celebration and remembrance.
